I was checking some files yesterday and found these. Quick sketches Ben Dilworth had drawn at the bottoms of various letters from Japan.
Both used as frontispiece illoes in Black Tower books.
"16 Tonnes" was inspired by the Tennessee Ernie Ford song of the same name. Not quite what Mr. Ford had in mind. Maybe the Iron Warrior needs more iron in its diet?

The next illo is based on a little in-joke. No matter where Dearth and his Iron Warrior goes -Africa, Amazon or even in time- there is always a giant bloody reptile of some kind -or dinosaur or...giant gorilla.
But then, if a life of danger was not full of surprises it would be pretty mundane, right?
