It might clarify things if I explained something. The graphic novel Return of the Gods: Twilight of the Super Heroes, The Cross Earths Caper and The Green Skies are the trilogy of books that come under the Invasion Earth banner. The thing is that you do not need to buy all three because, although they are all inter-linked with what you would call the final "pay off", each was designed so that it is self contained.
When it comes to Return of the Gods: Twilight of the Super Heroes you could consider the story ends with the words of Jack Flash: "Dr Morg has killed us all"...fade to black.
With The Cross Earth Caper you have a beginning and end and you do not need to buy volume 1 -incidents from it are referred to but you do not then have to buy volume 1 to read volume 2. The same thing goes with The Green Skies where events from volume 1 and 2 are mentioned but you can look at it as a stand alone book.
If you read volume 3 or 2 and then are interested enough you can buy one or both other volumes and have a complete epic showing you all the events.
Disclaimer: Neither I, nor Black Tower Comics and Books can offer eye drops for any eye strain incurred in reading all three volumes (if you read in one long session...you are insane).
Again, the idea that you can buy one book and ignore the other two is so as to buck the trend in comics of "You must buy all three to make us the most money!" I'm not out to rob anyone. There will NEVER be a gigantic omnibus edition as that would be well over 1000 pages and the cost of it to a buyer would probably equal the annual budget of Lichtenstein.
